Right here in NYC. Because you care, right? If it helps, I have pictures.
Fancy meal #1: Bananas, blueberries, honey, and almond butter on toast @ Soho House in the Meatpacking District. While many of you probably assume that I'm fancy enough to be a member of an exclusive members-only club/hotel/restaurant like Soho House, I am very much not. But I got to daintily pick at this delicious breakfast thanks to Medjet, an emergency medical-transport service I was meeting with for work.
Fancy meal #2: This was some sort of creamy, rich dessert with a bright and tart fruit sauce and a lovely dollop of custardy ice cream. I can't tell you anything more than that, because I was too busy listening to the presentation from the Arctic Europe tourism team to ask the waiter what we were being served. I didn't care either. So good.
Best meal: I don't know what magic spices they put in the naan at Hungry Bird, but this was the most delicious naan I've ever eaten. And I've eaten a lot of Indian food. Case in point: The cashier at my regular lunch spot in Singapore helpfully informed me that I would get fat if I continued to eat so much naan. Ten years later and I'm still showing him. This naan, however, is not from anywhere far-flung; it's from Hungry Bird, a five-table decidedly un-fancy spot right in the South Bronx. You should go there very soon. "What else should I do in the South Bronx to make a lovely day of it?", you might ask. Well I'm glad you asked.
